With Brat Summer in full swing, we can’t stop thinking about the power of color. The Ninja Turtle, slimy, acid green of Charli XCX’s album cover was like a final death blow to the chokehold of vanilla, clean girl aesthetics – we’re looking at you, white bouclé – and it seems like, visually and spiritually, we were ready. Bratcore is hot bitch but it’s also messy and self-aware. Glam and gross. Ego and a collective conscious. That deliciously difficult green is giving us a jolt of much-needed energy, and where it will carry us no one really knows. What else can we ask of color?
