The Ant™ chair’s visual expression is delicate and proud, and also implies the familiar curves of the violin you used to play when you were 5. Designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1952, the chair is made from nine layers of pressure molded veneer. Its elegant shape disguises its remarkable strength and comfort. The 3101 model retains the sculptural simplicity of the original three-legged Ant design while expanding its distinct profile to suit a wide range of interior settings. Although the four-legged version of the Ant chair was occasionally produced during Jacobsen’s lifetime, it was only put into official production in 1971.
