Checks and perfect balance. This flatweave will be handwoven by Fatima and the artisans of the  Association Le Vieux Village which is a beautiful collective of women artisans just outside of Tazenakht. It’s thought that this checkerboard design symbolizes barley and could be a wish for fertility for the weaver, or for the rug’s final home. The repeated geometric elements make this piece feel modern - and yes it really will work anywhere - but it represents thousands of years of tradition and symbolism.
