OTAKARA NYC x AFTERNOON LIGHT: EXCLUSIVE EMBROIDERED NAPKIN SET Satoshi Suzuki came across a vintage embroidered shirt while scrolling the internet at home in the height of the pandemic, and longed for items possessing a special something that only hand work can bring. He began experimenting with hand stitching on his own clothes during those long days of quarantine, creating colorful embroideries in floss based on his sketches of Japanese, Native American, and decidedly New York-centric iconography. Beyond his own closet and vintage finds, Suzuki debuted a collection of irresistible, modified items under the label Otakara NYC in collaboration with his friends at Engineered Garments. Otakara means treasure in Japanese, and each item that Suzuki touches transforms the ordinary into one-of-a-kind heirloom. With two successful pop ups at Nepenthes that had menswear aficionados swooning, Afternoon Light is very proud to be launching home Otakara NYC's first foray into home. Each set of our exclusive Otakara NYC napkins contains four randomly embroidered, pre-washed pieces in 100% cotton, blue chambray. Decorated with darumas or hot dogs, hamburgers or cherry blossoms, bananas or buildings, these are conversational keepsakes for the coolest tables.
