Artist Hebru Brantley (b. 1981) is inspired by anime and comics, the African-American experience, his youth spent in Chicago, and the work of street art pioneers like Haring and Basquiat. His work often centers his original characters FLYBOY and LIL MAMA, young superheroes who speak to hope and power.
