Named for Katherine Dunham, once one of the greatest exponents of dance culture in the African Diaspora and one of its most groundbreaking ethnographers. Dunham explored the Caribbean and North America, cataloging the stories and dances of the people, exploring and sharing the diverse expanse of Black experience and showing how dance could be a political force. This pattern, created in collaboration with Kim Johnson Studios, offers watercolor dancers displaying the energy characterized by Dunham, layered beneath a colorful play of florals.
