Latvian/American artist Mark Rothko was born in Dvinsk, Russia, (now Daugavpils, Latvia) but later immigrated with his family and settled in Portland, Oregon. His multi-colored paintings remain a legacy of his works, with the most famous and well-known of Rothko’s works are those that have shapes incorporated in them. Another well heard of series of pieces are the tri-toned and, two-toned works of art. Rothko’s name would eventually be equated with these two or tri-toned paintings.
