Korean painter, sculptor, writer, as well as philosopher artist Lee Ufan was born in South Korea. He attended colleges where he learned the art of “calligraphy, poetry, and painting.” Ufan is a Minimalist at heart, especially when painting. Ufan has numerous works entitled From Line, and this work features thirty-four downward strokes of blue. With each brushstroke the viewer is asked to consider the time it took for each line to be made, and whether that time still exists.

Location: Setagaya Art Museum, Tokyo The Setagaya Museum is located on the corner of Setagaya's Metropolitan Kinuta Park, famous for its greenery and cherry-blossom trees. The Museum has 16,000 works of art from Japan and other countries, focusing primarily on modern and contemporary art. At the center of this collection are works of naïve and outsider art, and by artists with connections to Setagaya.

A significant portion of each purchase goes to the museum, artist, and artists' Artists estates.
