Lee Ufan’s painting From Line was painted in 1978 and belongs to a series that Lee made by painting long downward lines until the paint on the brush is used up. Born in South Korea, Lee is a painter, sculptor, writer and philosopher. He attended colleges where he learned the art of “calligraphy, poetry, and painting.” Lee is a Minimalist at heart, especially when painting. The Minimalist style can be seen in most of his works; as his works reveal both the absence of color and color itself.
