New Vernacular is the design studio established by Sami El Khattabi. Based in Los Angeles and rooted in Morocco, the studio combines deep respect for artisanal craft with a contemporary approach to design, creating unique objects that explore boundaries and dialogue between historical and futuristic, natural and synthetic, local and universal. And there's nothing we love more than a mash-up.
ITEM WE LOVE
What we'd like to do is stack these high and all around us to build a little kasbah where we can sit in a central courtyard surrounded by orange trees and be transported to Casablanca. Instead, we may settle for one beside the couch to hold our finest travel tomes and censer full of bakhoor.
