Raised in India, Leah Singh spent her college years at Parson's in NYC then returned home to flip her homeland's textile tradition on its head. Now living between the two countries, she works with artisans in villages across India to create pieces infused with her singular knack for color and pattern play. Thoroughly modern and steeped in tradition, Singh's line exemplifies a best of both worlds ethos. She took some time to play our Afternoon Questionnaire and share a little bit about herself here...

1. Where did you grow up?

New Delhi, India.

2. What are your big three astrological signs (sun/moon/rising)?

I only know my sun sign- I'm a Scorpio.

3. When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I can’t remember what I wanted to be before high school, but in high school I thought I would be a psychologist or an environmentalist.

4. What do you consider your greatest achievement?

Managing two businesses and leading with kindness.

5. What is your most treasured possession?

A pair of gold bangles that my grandmother gave me when I got married.

6. What is your greatest extravagance?

Traveling.

7. Who are your favorite writers and/or artists?

I don’t have a favorite- I like a few pieces from multiple writers and artists so it’s hard to pick just one from the lot

8. Favorite online source of inspiration?

Pinterest and Sight Unseen.

9. Favorite offline source of inspiration?

Craft markets and urban areas.

10. If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be?

Guatemala.

11. Which words or phrases do you most overuse?

Not one - I like to mix it up.

12. What is your idea of perfect happiness?

Chai (or hot chocolate) during the Fall in a cozy setting with close friends or family, and laughing uncontrollably.

13. Which talent would you most like to have?

I wish I could do choreographed hip hop dancing!

14. Last good film or TV show you watched?

Kohrra on Netflix.

15. Last three songs or albums you listened to?

The Weekend’s King of the Fall, Burna Boy’s Sitting on Top of the World, and Chris Brown’s Under the Influence.

16. What’s your comfort meal?

Vegetarian Lasagna.

17. If you were to die and be reincarnated as a household object, what would it be?

A tapestry.

18. If you could have any architect, dead or alive, design a house for you, who would it be?

Carlo Scarpa.

19. Do you have an overarching design philosophy?

Make it fun.
